Yeguada Onix is committed to continue the breeding program of Yeguada Militar, from where most of mares originate. We also believe in the importance of other breeding programs like Martinez Boloix, Paco Lazo, and Escalera, all which may be traced consistently in the lineage of our mares.
We are convinced of the future the PRE has in the classical school. In our breeding program, through a strict selective process, we intend to obtain foals which are strong, tall, and elastic, with ample cadenced airs, powerful hind legs, without forgetting the beauty, which is also so important in this magnificent race.
We are committed to develop, as much as possible, all the physical aspects, without leaving unattended the psychics, in order to potential functionality. Character and psychological stability are so important in the horse schooling and must be correctly dealt with since their foal stage. We must never abuse of the innate learning aptitude or block the trust and disposition, which distinguishes the Pure Spanish Horse. This is why our horses are brought up in a calm environment, are handled and schooled without pressure, stress, freaking sounds, nor violence.
Our mares seek our companionship, our caring attention and touch. They trust in us and transfer this same feeling to their foals. All together, stable workers, veterinary, smith, strive every day with patience, firmness, and care to develop a positive attitude in our animals.
The Spanish Horse is well known for its sensibility, nobility and willing unrestrained disposition. The only true effort we must concentrate in is to treasure and conserve these characteristics. Breeders must work hard on all these traits in order to facilitate the effort of the riders, so that they may guide our horses to the peak of their possibilities.
